Working with layers of photographic, vector-based, and code-generated material, this work is dedicated to the idea of Cyberia.
The term stems from the cyber-counterculture of the 1990s, where technological and cultural breakthroughs opened the floodgates for radical visions of the future. Think chaos mathematics, early VR-tech, novel styles of rave music, internet access, LSD, and a hacker mentality — and you’re deep in the trenches of Hyperspace.
Recommended read: Cyberia, by Douglas Rushkoff. It’s out of print, but still dense with inspiring and paradigm-shifting trains of thought.
